These poems come from my developing interest in allowing fantasy worlds and surreal imagery into my writing. I used to feel like it was impossible for me to move into the unreal, that my writing was stuck in observation and (my) reality. But I have been finding that sometimes things that are strange and uncanny can better express my meaning. This is very exciting for me, as I have always loved folklore, fairytale, and fantasy. I hope you enjoy these experiments, thank you for reading! —P.M.
